The secret to photographing children, is to get down on their eye level, and get close. Watch the light as it hits their eyes. Sit still and be quiet. Waiting patiently for the right shot will usually yield success. Interact with them. Get the children to like you and not be afraid of you. If possible on the younger children, have the mother put her face directly by your camera in tandem with the photographer. The child will naturally try to look at his or her mother. Don't be afraid to lay on the floor with your camera extended. Those are some of the best shots. Always put the focusing element on the child's eyes, and always watch from where the light is coming from.
